Biography:

Dr. Huang was born and raised in Austin, Texas. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University. During her time between college and medical school, she worked as a home caregiver, which deepened her passion for medicine and forging meaningful connections with others. She returned to Texas and earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. During medical school, she was selected to be an Albert Schweitzer Fellow and dedicated over 200 hours to volunteering with adults with developmental disabilities. She designed and implemented a medical curriculum to raise disability awareness at UTMB and helped establish the medical school as a national chapter of the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry. Dr. Huang also participated in the NIH-funded Medical Student Training in Aging Research Program. For her dedication to research, she was awarded the Schreiber Award and the Edward J. and Ellie Weisiger Lefever, Sr. Prize in Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology.

She completed her residency training in Internal Medicine at Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin. She graduated from both the Distinctions in Care Transformation Track and Primary Care Track, where her commitment to design thinking, health equity, and preventative care were refined. As a resident, Dr. Huang led a quality improvement project focused on breast cancer screening rates at the Residency Clinic at the Veterans Affairs, improving screening rates by 40%. Her research was presented at conferences nationwide. Throughout residency, she gained diverse training through providing care at various settings across Austin, including Community Care, Veterans Affairs, David Powell, Vivent Health, and UT Health. She is enthusiastic to continue to practice evidence-based medicine and to nurture meaningful, long-term relationships with patients.

Beyond work, she enjoys traveling, reading, movies, comedy shows, and musicals. She finds every opportunity to spend time outdoors with her fiancé and two dogs. Together they enjoy cycling, hiking, swimming in Barton Springs, and paddle boarding.
