Biography

Dr. Amanda “Amy” LaViolette grew up in Austin. She attended Austin College receiving her undergraduate degree in Chemistry and Spanish. Amy went on to attend Medical School at University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio, completing her residency at University of Texas Medical Branch-Austin. Following medical school, Dr. LaViolette received a Master of Public Health from University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health, Austin Campus.

Dr. LaViolette decided to pursue internal medicine because she likes taking care of and communicating with adults and the complexity of multiple medical problems. She enjoys primary care because of the longitudinal relationship with her patients and helping them reduce their risk of complications/health problems by medication or motivation.

Dr. LaViolette joined Capital Medical Clinic in 2015 in order to work in an environment that makes taking good care of patients easy and achievable. Prior to joining CMC, she worked academically with the Residency Program at University Medical Center at Brackenridge while also in private practice at University Physicians Group. She has been awarded the Designated Texas Primary Care Resident award 2004-2007 and Texas Super Doctors Rising Star 2013-2015.

When she is not working, Dr. LaViolette loves spending time with her young children, Juliette and Luc, her husband and their dogs Sally Jo and Hank. She also likes watching movies; and if she ever has free time, she enjoys knitting and crocheting.
