On June 1, 2023, Dr. Mark Hernandez, will be joining Capital Medical Clinic. Our team is proud to welcome him to our practice. Dr. Hernandez is a distinguished internal medicine provider serving the Central Texas region for over 30 years.
Dr. Hernandez was born and raised in Houston, where he attended the University of St. Thomas, majoring in Biology and Philosophy. He then attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine, also in Houston before moving to Austin to train in internal medicine at The University of Texas Medical Branch Austin at Brackenridge Hospital. Throughout his tenure, he worked as a primary care internist, a hospitalist and has held numerous leadership positions, including as the chief medical officer of the Travis County safety net system. He returned to primary care medicine in the summer of 2020, returning to his first calling in medicine.
Dr. Hernandez believes that the best outcomes happen when he partners with his patients, with him understanding their particular needs, and his patients understanding the medical treatment plan he recommends each step of the way.
