Biography
Dr. Deepa Varshney grew up in Carrizo Springs, a small town in southwest Texas. She attended Rice University, completing her undergraduate degree in Psychology. She spent a year in India exploring rural health and non-profit work before starting medical school. She attended medical school at University of Texas-Medical Branch in Galveston and completed her residency at University of Texas-Southwestern/Parkland Hospital in Internal Medicine. She has been practicing hospital medicine since 2011, holding positions at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas as well as Vanderbilt University in Nashville prior to relocating to Austin. She has worked with a private practice hospitalist group caring for perioperative patients throughout Austin, including the St David’s and Seton systems and most recently serving as Medical Director at Central Texas Rehabilitation Hospital, an inpatient rehabilitation hospital close to Capital Medical Clinic.
In her free time, she likes spending time with family, going on long walks and hikes, baking cookies and traveling. She also likes learning new skills and has recently enrolled in swimming and dance lessons.
