Frequently Asked Questions

1. What do I bring to my first appointment?

Please complete your New Patient History Form and New Patient Registration Form located for your convenience on this website. In addition, please bring a current driver's license, insurance card and your co-payment for your visit.

2. What insurance companies do you accept?

CMC accepts most insurance companies, however, you will need to confirm if we accept your insurance company when you call to make an appointment. United Healthcare is one of the few large insurance plans that we do not accept. If you are a Medicare Advantage patient, please be aware that we accept very few Medicare Advantage plans.

3. What happens if I become hospitalized?

Your care in the hospital will be handled by a Hospitalist who specializes in the care of patients who become hospitalized. This specialist will keep our physicians informed of your progress while you are in the hospital. After you have been discharged from the hospital, please call to make appointment to see your CMC physician.

4. How do I contact a CMC physician after clinic hours and during the weekends?

CMC provides physician coverage for our patients 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Our on call physician can be reached by calling the Medical Exchange at 512-458-1121.

5. Do I have to pay for parking?

Unfortunately, we do not validate parking. The parking lot rates at the Medical Park Tower are competitive with other pay parking lots in our area. Medical Park Tower provides a shuttle cart for transportation to and from your vehicle.

6. How are prescription refills handled?

Many of your prescriptions may be refilled over the telephone with your physician's approval. Please be sure to request medicines while you still have a few days supply on hand. Simply contact your pharmacy with the name of the medicine and the prescription number (which can be found on the medicine bottle). Your pharmacist will then call our office for the refill approval. Some medications are not intended to be refilled (antibiotics). If you are uncertain, please contact your physician's medical assistant for clarification. If you have not seen your physician in a long time, you may be required to make an appointment before your prescription is refilled.

Certain controlled medications, such as some narcotics, are required by law to be written on special prescription pads and cannot be filled over the telephone. You, as the responsible party, will need to come by the office to pick up the prescription and take it to your pharmacy.

It is very important that you check your medication supplies prior to the weekend or holidays to be certain you have adequate medications to last through the weekend or holiday.

7. How do I schedule an appointment?

Our appointments are scheduled by your physician's medical assistant. If you reach a voicemail box, please leave a message and your phone call will be returned in the same day, as long as your call was received by 4:00pm. Any phone messages left after 4:00pm will be returned by the next business day.

8. If I have a medical emergency or concern, whom do I call?

If you have medical emergency, dial 911. If you have a medical concern please call your physician's medical assistant. Our medical assistants are trained to triage your medical phone call to determine the appropriate action for you to take.

9. What if I am late for my appointment?

Depending on your physician's schedule, you may be asked to reschedule you appointment.

10. If I miss my appointment, will I be charged?

CMC reserves the right to charge our patients a fee of $50 for any missed appointments without 24 hours prior notice, however, this is handled on a case by case basis.
